Role Summary/Purpose

The Field Service Technician will perform hands-on field service work on Jenbacher Gas Engines, including but not limited to commissioning, troubleshooting, periodic maintenance, and minor overhaul, GE’s Jenbacher Gas Engines range in power from 0.25 to 9.5

MW, and run on either natural gas or a variety of other gases (e.g., biogas, landfill gas, coal mine gas, sewage gas, combustible industrial waste gases).

Essential Function

  • Carry out major repairs to the Gas engines in cooperation colleagues compliant to the protocol for major maintenance.

  • Coordinate the work with suppliers who provide specialist services

  • Start up a new or reconditioned Gas Engine in compliance with the set-up protocol in consultation with the project leader, also abroad;

  • Check whether all parts and electrical wiring are connected properly; if failure is found fix this yourself or let the supplier who installed the Engine/part fix this;

  • Install the software operating systems and set the correct parameters;

  • Test the whole installation

  • Analysis of complex and frequent recurring faults in the system, with multiple causes which are not regular ion the field of mechanics, measurement and control, electronics and associated software.

  • Check on the historical data of the installation, localize the faults by excluding the causes of the failure;

  • Determine the method for repair;

  • Troubleshooting the installations in by using Mechanics, electronics or software systems;

  • Retune the Engine;

  • Testing whether the fault has been solved

  • Work effectively as part of a team of technicians or independently

  • Process timesheets, expense reports, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) forms, and job reports in a timely manner

  • Comply with all EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and productive work site

  • Perform others duities as assignedQualifications/Requirements

  • 3 years of reciprocating engine experience preferred

  • Experience as car mechanic, car electrician, and electrician

  • Technician or higher

  • Strong electrician and IT skills

  • PLC knowledgeDesired Characteristics

  • Familiar with Ge Jenbacher reciprocating gas/diesel engines

  • Able to understand and implement technical procedures

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Strong customer focus

  • Able to effectively interact with customers

  • Strong computer skills

  • Available for extensive travel, up to 70%.

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to meet and maintain insurability standards to drive a company vehicle
