The Senior Auditor is responsible for examining and analyzing accounting records,conducting compliance and/or financial audits, assisting in training other auditors, andimplementing quality assurance programs to verify the accuracy and overall efficiency ofinternal fiscal and administrative controls. This position is governed by state and federallaws, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and agency policy.
Conducts programmatic, operational/performance compliance, and financial-related auditsof state agencies/institutions, boards, and commissions. Provides technical assistance to state agencies/institutions, boards, and commissions andvarious business entities by interpreting state and federal fiscal policies and directives withapplication to state fiscal examination procedures. Reviews financial information to ensure compliance with established criteria, policy, andregulations. Compiles data and audit information for preparation of reports and schedules and recordsfindings and analysis of information for future projections. Reviews and analyzes efficiency of audit procedures and recordkeeping techniques todetermine compliance with state and federal laws and state audit fiscal policies andprocedures. Explains adjustments and laws via telephone, correspondence, and/or in-person visits,including attendance at administrative hearings. Assists in training other auditors by acting as a group lead on large, complex audits andexplaining auditing standards, policies, and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Knowledge of the principles of regulatory accounting procedures. Knowledge of the principles of auditing procedures. Knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems and procedures. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and Principles. Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and policies to specific situations. Ability to interpret and analyze automated accounting transactions. Ability to use computer software programs to produce reports and correspondence. Ability to lead the work of others.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a relatedfield; plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing or a related field with one yearin an organizational auditing capacity.
Project Management Experience. Advanced Excel Experience including writing formulas & using pivot tables & pivot charts. CPA or Qualified to take the CPA Exam. Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting or from a four-year institution accredited by the AACSB – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Financial Accounting Experience. Fact finding & Gathering, Interview Experience. Report Writing Experience. Analytical & Research Skills. Grants/Sub-Grants Experience. Experience in giving sworn statements in court proceedings. Ability to communicate effectively with administration & upper management.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes requirereview and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
